Aldara 5% cream is a prescription-only medication that is used to treat skin conditions caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). The active ingredient in Aldara cream is imiquimod, which belongs to a group of medications called immune response modifiers. It works by stimulating the body’s natural defence system to help fight off HPV infection and the skin conditions it can cause.
